TasteCasting™
By Louis Luzzo & Elaine GiammettaTasteCasting combines socially networked individuals plus the social media platforms and applications they use to help establishments build awareness, announce grand openings, introduce new menu items, distribute special offers and encourage people to visit the establishments they talk about. These people use various online media outlets to spread the word about regional eateries and the food and drink they serve. Teams of TasteCasters attend complimentary tastings. In turn, the TasteCasters tell their collective connections (as many as 100,000 or more) about their experience, good or bad, using text messages, links to images, photos, and video via such social networks as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace and blogs to promote the establishment. The businesses can then repurpose that media coverage for their own promotional use on their website, in newsletters and in other social media outlets.
Let the tweeting begin! TasteCasting launched creating the newest way to utilize social networking. The idea combines great people and good food to benefit the many food and drink establishments in specific demographic areas.
Mikaela Hunt from NBC 4 went to Hilliard to do the news story on this new social phenom. You can see the complete story on NBC41.com . Currently there is no charge to restaurants and there is no compensation for tasters. We just recently attended a Tastecasting for "Save the Torilla's", a local Tampa factory facing closure in this rough economy. Tastecasting's Tampa chapter, helmed by Bill Cason, held an event to call public attention and support to the 17 year old company and its 40 employees. You can read all about it in this month's On the Red Carpet.
“The socially networked, and social media savvy are already meeting online, and attending a number of events held by Columbus TechLife, Tweetups and meetups.” says Dan Harris, Founder of TasteCasting. TasteCasting is a way to get networked people meeting in person, learning about the establishments, the food, the owners, their passions and then the team broadcasts to thousands across their personal networks through blogs, twitter, video and photos.
